First time ever National Testing Agency releases NET results online

The certificates of the UGC (University Grants Commission) June NET has been released. This is the first time in history that NET results and certificates have been released online, earlier, National Eligibility Test (NET) certificates were sent to the candidates through posts. The NTA (National Testing Agency) is the official Indian agency that conducts the NET exam on behalf of the UGC.

The NET is the test which is conducted to determine the eligibility for the job postition of Assistant Professor and JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) in the Indian universities and colleges. NET is also considered as one of the toughest exams in India.

The NET is held twice in one year, once in June and the other in December. The NET exam for December 2019 will finish today.

NTA started conducting NET exams for UGC only from December of 2018, before that CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) used to conduct this exam.

The exam is 3 hours long and consist of 2 papers, for the first paper the candidates are given 1 Hour and for the second the candidates get 2 hours. There are no breaks given between the papers.

The candidate needs to fill the Roll Number of Application Number, they DoB (Date of Birth) in DD/MM/YYYY format (if DoB is 1st January 1996 then fill 01/01/1996), along with the code written on the screen and click Proceed.

Last month, Vineet Joshi, Director, NTA, had said the after December 2019 exams the NET Candidates will no longer receive a physical copy of the certificate. He had said “the process of issuing physical certificates was time consuming. The certificates were sent to candidates through postal service and at times candidates complained of not receiving the document on time’.

The new method of certificate distribution will change the entire process, Joshi said “with the online certificates it will be easier for them to retrieve it and it would be less time consuming”. He added by saying “with the ‘DigiLocker’ system candidates can keep their certificates safe and can download it as and when they need it”.
