The 3 farm laws which have received a lot of fire from the farmers and are the core reason behind the ongoing farmer protests has been paused by the Supreme Court of India and the government will respect the order, said the President of India Ram Nath Kovind, on Friday, while he also strongly defended the measures.
The Indian Government has been trying to combat the misgivings over the 3 farm laws the President had told the parliament, in his traditional budget session address, which was boycotted by more than 20 opposition parties who in support of the demands from the farmers of revoking the laws.
While addressing the joint sitting of parliament on the opening day of the Budget session, the President condemned the violence which took place during the Repub Day amidst the framer’s tractor rally in Delhi and called it “very unfortunate”.
President kovind said, “Farmers recently carried out a tractor rally. However, there was violence during the protests and there were incidents of insult to the national flag at Red Fort on Republic Day. This was very unfortunate”.

Ge added, “If the Constitution gives us the right to freedom of expression, it also reaches us to take laws and rules seriously”.
Talking about the 3 farm bills, the President said that they were passed only after several extensive deliberations and had “immediately benefited” 10 crore small farmers.
President Ram Nath Kovind also said, “Today there are more than 80 per cent small farmers, who number over 10 crore. The biggest beneficiaries of the new farm laws are these small farmers. They immediately started benefiting from these agricultural reforms”.
In his address, some of the Member of Parliaments from the opposition, which included Ravneet Singh Bittu of Congress, raised slogans like “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan” and demanded that the 3 farm laws should be cancelled.
The annual address of the President sums up the views, policies and plans of the Central Government ahead of the Budget.
