Actress Rhea Chakraborty has accused her late boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput’s family of driving him to suicide, on Tuesday came out with a sensational claim against them.
In a lengthy statement released by Rhea’s lawyer, she had said that she has complied with all the requests which were made by the agencies which have been tasked with investigating the death of Sushant Singh Rajput.
However, calling herself the “daughter of an Indian Army surgeon and a Maharashtrian housewife”, Rhea said that all the charges against her were “total nonsense”.
Rhea traced bad blood between her and Sushant’s family to April 2019 when one night while she was living with Sushant, his sister allegedly slipped into her bed and then groped her while she was drunk.
The statement read, “Rhea was extremely shocked and demanded that she leave the room immediately. Subsequently, Rhea herself left the house,”.
She added, “Thereafter, Rhea informed Sushant as to what had transpired and Sushant got into an argument with his sister regarding the same. That due to the aforesaid incident, the relationship between Sushant’s family and Rhea had been strained since inception,”.
The 28 year old actress has also claimed that Sushan has been trying to get his family to come and meet him for days before he allegedly committed suicide. She added that one of his sisters agreed to meet Sushant “after several days of Sushant calling and crying over the phone”.
The statement also read, “Due to this development, Sushant requested Rhea to live with her parents for the time being. Rhea had been suffering from her own anxiety issues and often endured panic attacks. Sushant’s conduct also aggravated these conditions. Even though Rhea was desirous of seeing her family, she was not at all comfortable with leaving Sushant,”.
The statement added, “Thus Rhea reluctantly left and informed Sushant to let her or her brother know about anything he required or in case he needed to talk,”.
On the 14th of June, Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai apartment and the Mumbai Police said that the promising young actor had committed suicide and began with their investigation starting with the industry rivals. It was being said that Sushant was depression which could have been a probable cause of him committing suicide.
After over a month, his father K K Singh filed a case in Bihar where he accused Rhea Chakraborty and her family of cheating his late sun financially and mentally harassing him.
The complaint then spawned 2 different investigations by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) which probes financial crimes and a legal wrangle in the Supreme Court over the jurisdiction of this case.
The statement from Rhea Chakraborty read, “The comments made at the last hearing before the Hon’ble Supreme Court on the 11th of August 2020, make it evident that this has become more about politics than the truth. Unwanted and irrelevant submissions are being made. The number of pliticians taking advantage of this case on the eve of elections in Bihar,”.
