India Bans Single-Use Plastic Products From July 1

The govt agency under the Ministry of Environment has reportedly classified 30 single-use plastic items, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

The sale, stocking, distribution, and export of certain plastic items are also banned.

Apparently, single-use plastic items with little practical use but a significant potential for littering are subject to a ban.

Let's look at the items that are on the banned list

Plastic sticks including balloons with plastic sticks, candy sticks, ice-cream sticks, flags made of plastic, earphones with plastic sticks, and decorations made of thermocol.

Plastic cutlery includes cups, glasses, forks, spoons, straws, trays, and knives.

Packaging/wrapping: cigarette packets, invitation cards, and sweet boxes.

Stirrers for coffee or tea, banners made of plastic or PVC that are less than 100 microns.
