Teenage chess sensation, Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa is playing in the finals of the Chessable Masters Tournament at the moment
This is a part of Meltwater Champions Chess Tour which is a nine-month series of nine online chess tournaments in which some of the world's best players compete for cash prizes worth US$1.6 million.
Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu, a 16-year-old Indian grandmaster, defeated world champion Magnus Carlsen for the second time in three months, this time at the Chessable Masters online rapid chess competition on Friday.
After Carlsen made a one-move error and misplayed his knight, Praggnanadhaa sealed the victory and earned three vital points keeping his chances of making the knockout stage alive.
Praggnanandhaa received accolades in February of this year for defeating World No. 1 Carlsen in an online tournament.
He has reached the finals of the tournament and is up against Chinese World No. 2 Ding Liren.
Others, notably Indians Viswanathan Anand and Pentala Harikrishna, have beaten Carlsen, but Praggnanandhaa is the youngest to accomplish it since the Norwegian became world champion in 2013.
The Meltwater Champions Chess Tour's fourth leg is the Chessable Masters. In November, the overall Tour champion will be proclaimed the best online chess player in the world.
